EL-Aaiun, 3 July 2021 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Body against Moroccan occupation (ISACOM), Aminatou Haidar, called on the United Nations to assume its responsibility and to conduct urgent and thorough investigations into the human rights violations committed by Morocco in the occupied Sahrawi cities. Western Sahara has been at the mercy of a brutal occupation since 1975. It is time for the United Nations to take responsibility for decolonization, said Aminatou Haidar in a statement before the UN Human Rights Council. The Sahrawi activist asked the Council to urge Morocco to put an end to systematic violations of human rights to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and freedom.

A 21-year-old man who bundled a pensioner into the boot of his car while she was out walking early on a winter’s morning has been jailed for six years.
On Tuesday the court heard through the 70-year-old woman’s victim statement that she looked into Martin Gallagher’s face as “I lay in that boot. I was afraid for my life.”
She was walking along a Dublin Street around 7.30am on a January morning when Gallagher grabbed her from behind and threw her into the open boot of his parked vehicle.
