do you support universal background checks? no. but vis-a-vis the president, erica, he s been all over the map. a week or two he said yes. the past week he s hedging the other way. look, 98%, 99% of the guns bought and sold in this country are already covered by universal background checks. we have a problem, you re right, too many mass shootings in this country. i don t think this is an issue which it comes to background checks though. we have a white nationalism, white supremacy problem in this country that we feed to be honest about and go after. so you want to go after that but just to be clear, you do not support universal background checks. i should point out 89% of americans 84% of republicans do believe that the implementing background checks for gun purchases is a good idea. from a pbs and maris poll last month. and as you know, 60% of americans do favor some sort of stricter gun control legislation. this is going to come up a lot it is a broad topic.
