Despite a year of bitter controversies, Spain s bishops have maintained a conciliatory stance, pledging dialogue and cooperation where possible. There and elsewhere across the 27-country European Union, however, there have been complaints that coronavirus restrictions are being used to push through measures that could compromise religious rights.
