Yesterday, we notified people that starting today, we will be doing that same kind of active monitoring for everyone who arrives in mali. Not because we believe there is widespread transmission but because there are so many contacts there and we are not yet confident that they are all being identified and monitored daily. If one comes here, we dont want to take the risk that they may become ill and the Health Care System would not be aware of it. We dont know that we have the perfect response but like everything in Public Health, everything for clinical medicine, everything in science, we use data to continuously improve practices. That is the approach we will take. We work with the Health Care System to strengthen control. They have visited three dozen hospitals all over the country and a dozen states to assess the ready. Every one of those cases needs that kind of response that i described. Going to be incredibly difficult. A reminder that cases are still growing. Despite some progress, there was more cases in west africa in october than there were in september and though the numbers decreased in liberia, we believe, there are so many cases that we are not able to do the kind of outbreak control as needed and so many communities that have not yet had cases that need intensive control measures. In october, west africa had more all of the than in recorded ebola outbreaks over the last 40 years. We have a long way to go but we do have proof of principle and we do have tremendous commitment from societies. My team was describing how many communities themselves were taking action among they identified buildings or schools to isolate and care for people with ebola. They tracked the contacts so they would be rapidly isolated and would not further spread disease. This is outdated because it is from yesterday.
Video showed. Within 16 seconds of the Police Pulling up, the young man was shot. He was not lunging towards them, was said. At there are reality issues, not just perception issues. How do citizens feel comfortable when in many cases the only option provided in certain cases are a grand jury or judge, neither of which they trust . Says is not a rule that that a special prosecutor come in during searching certain situations. How do we manage that . Review,ere is civilian do we see more effective accountability of officers . I would say this. Could a special prosecutor coming in making difference . Maybe, maybe not. Cincinnati, a special prosecutor was brought into prosecute the young man who shot and killed a young man and lied about it. A poor job. I was a witness to this man admitting he lied. I was never called as a witness. The officer was found not guilty. Moved onto a suburban agency, healed as an Exceptional Police officer. How do we explain this . I dont think we have an explana
Lets just leave it at that. More than saudi arabia, oil, coal, we have it all. But we dont have the ability to move it. We have been trying for 40 years to advance our natural gas coming off of the north slope and we are still working at it. Our oil resources, we were successful in the mid70s, getting the transalaska pipeline. But it really has been our only infrastructure corridor or, the 800 mile pipe from north to south. Think about our coal reserves. That is because we lack that infrastructure. You may have the infrastructure, it is aging infrastructure. It is insufficient to meet the demands that are out there. I too have been to north dakota and the folks up there say, we can wait all day for more pipelines, but in the meantime, lets just put it on rail. We will not be able to access these incredible reserves unless weve got the infrastructure to move it. And this is not just limited to our fossil fuels. Its how we move wind, solar, renewable.
