Therese Lum became a shock elimination from
MasterChef Australia last night, sent home after a punishing dessert challenge -with her Immunity pin intact.
Therese becomes only the third contestant in the show’s history to be sent home without using an Immunity pin, following from Loki Madireddi (Season 10) and Dani Venn (Season 12).
This year she even had a new advantage of being able to play the pin at any time during a challenge. Fellow contestants were yelling from the gantry to use the pin, but Therese hesitated in the challenge set by chocolatier Kirsten Tibballs. Even the judges repeatedly asked whether she wanted to play her pin.
