JACKSON, Tenn.–It’s a festival filled with plenty of activities for the community, with many people enjoying their Fourth of July at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport for the Firefighters Freedom Festival.
“We started this at the beginner to try to deter people from using fireworks because we were having so many fires and so many injuries due to fireworks so we started this and it kind of snowballed and rolled into what it is today,” Madison County Fire Chief Eric Turner.
Chief Turner says with this being the 7th year for the festival, fire officials wanted to give residents a safe and fun environment for this holiday.

Jackson will see a boost in clean, green energy soon thanks to the development of a new solar farm built by Clearloop, a start-up company looking to help corporations reduce their carbon footprint while investing in Tennessee.
The company, which functions similarly to a crowd-funding project, allows corporations to invest in the number of solar panels that would reverse the effects of their 2020 carbon footprint, therefore “closing the loop” on clean energy.
“We’ve been talking a lot about Jackson, and we’re really excited it’s coming together,” said Lauren Zapata, co-founder of Clearloop. “We were really excited that we will be making our first solar project happen in Jackson.

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Firefighter Freedom Festival is right around the corner, and the Madison County Fire Department is getting ready to open the gates.
“So Sunday, July 4, Madison County Fire will be hosting our seventh annual Firefighters Freedom Festival. Having to cancel last year, so we’re happy to have the event back,” said Anna Kate Craig, Community Risk Reduction Coordinator for the Madison County Fire Department.
This event will take place at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, and fireworks will start approximately at dusk.
“Gates open at 3 p.m. that day, with music starting immediately, so we’ve got different local bands that are going to be performing on our stage,” Craig said.
