The state first started the process of revising sex ed curriculum standards in 2018, and approved the new framework Tuesday after soliciting public comment over the summer.
The new proposal - five years in the making - is being pushed by the states governor, and serves as the first update to the state curriculum since 1999.
On Tuesday, The Board of Education and Secondary Education met to officially begin the public comment period for a proposal to overhaul the physical and sexual education framework for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
