Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for April 21) The Metuchen Arts Council is joining with the Metuchen Human Relations Commission to schedule virtual Community Conversations around the issues highlighted in 2021 Windows of Understanding Public Art Project. The third in the series will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 21 on the topic of climate change. Artists Lauren Curtis, Maja Opacic and Mickey Waring were commissioned by the Metuchen Arts Council to create art that illuminates the mission of the Edison Greenways Group. Walter Stochel, vice president of the group, will participate in the discussion about their mission and their work to enhance the quality of life in our community.

Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for April 14)   The Arts Institute of Middlesex County is presenting a multitude of arts and culture events throughout April, primarily centered around National Poetry Month. Highlights include:   April 14 at 4 p.m. – Explore a folk story told in poetic verse and in two languages through vivid prints in this reading of “The Snow and the Sun,” written and illustrated by Antonio Frasconi. After the reading, experiment with engraving to create multiple prints of your own. April 21 at 4 p.m. – Explore the real-life story of the Puerto Rican-American pediatrician and New Jersey-based poet William Carlos Williams as told through multimedia illustrations. Let the images and words inspire you to create your own poems and collages from a variety of your own found papers and other materials.

Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for March 17) The Terra Nova Garden Club of Edison is offering a $400 scholarship to an Edison resident and high school senior who is planning to attend college in the fall and has a  significant interest in agriculture, horticulture, the environment or ecology. Applications along with criteria can be obtained at all Edison high schools. The deadline for submission is May 12.     The latest newsletter from Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) highlights some of the essential aspects of the various special programs designed to help poor and other New Jerseyans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for March 10) Keynote speaker Sheri-Rose Rubin will discuss Jews with Disabilities at 7:30 p.m. March 11. Sheri-Rose and her husband Seth are the parents of Sophie, 20, and Max, 17; Max has cerebral palsy. She is a councilwoman in Metuchen and the founder of the Metuchen Accessibility Committee and the organizer of Metuchen Buddy Ball. Fellow panelists include Lauren and Michael Cohn, Meredith Parmalee-Kafah, Sheldon and Therese Jaffe, and Cantor Emily Simkin. Hosted by Temple Emanu-El of Edison. For more information, call 646-558-8656.     Although Woodbridge canceled its 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Parade due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 1 the American Irish Association of Woodbridge started a “Parade of Food” to replenish the township food pantries. Through March 14, drop off food at any Woodbridge Township firehouse.

Find meaning across Latinx identities and adapt to changing times affecting racism, colorist and invisibility. To register, visit www.latinomentalhealthnj.org     The Middlesex County Youth Conservation Corps is dedicated to protecting and preserving the more than 8,000 acres of open space owned and maintained by Middlesex County. Conservation Corps crew members must be 16 years of age or older. They work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays from April 10 through June 5. Salary is $12.50 per hour.
