SCENE: Hill View Hotel in Preston New Road, Blackburn A MAN who inadvertently smoked a few drags of spice came round in his room thinking he had died. Blackburn magistrates heard Martin Robert Matthews was saying goodbye to his family and wondering whether he was going to heaven or hell. When police came to arrest him he thought they were there to take him to one of the after-life destinations. Matthews, 37, of Hill View Hotel, Preston New Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assault without beating of Murtza Hussain, the hotel owner. He was given a conditional discharge for 18 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £22 victim surcharge.
