A woman who stole more than $35,000 in taxpayer s money in a Centrelink scam ignored her sentence and refused to do any community service.
Kellie Kathleen Harrington, 42, faced Mildura Magistrate s Court in Victoria on Monday after pocketing free cash while being gainfully employed.
Between July 2009 and September 2013, Harrington did not declare income she made working as a shoe store sales assistant and kept collecting benefits, the Mildura Leader reported.

Over the more than four years she continued the scam she was overpaid $35,463.92 by Centrelink.

Police charge man after fatal collision in Sea Lake
Major Collision Investigation detectives have today charged a man with Culpable driving following an investigation into a collision in November last year.
The male was allegedly driving a vehicle which struck an off duty local policeman who was riding a bicycle on Sea Lake Road, Sea Lake on 12 November.
The 57-year-old Sea Lake man was bailed to appear at the Mildura Magistrates’ Court on 18 May.

A man has been charged in relation to the death of an off-duty police officer who was killed while cycling in country Victoria.
A 57-year-old man has been charged with culpable driving following the fatal November 12 collision which killed Leading Senior Constable Dennis Cox.
The man was allegedly driving a car that struck the 42-year-old local officer on Sea Lake Road in the state s north-east.

Snr Const Cox died at the scene. The driver is understood to have stopped at the scene and assisted with enquiries.
