After the coronavirus pandemic hit North America and Europe in March 2020, seemingly everyone who had to start working, going to school or even socializing from home started using the videoconferencing service. But boy, were there growing pains. Zoom went from 10 million daily users in December 2019 to 300 million daily users in April 2020. Its security and privacy practices came under sharp scrutiny — and experts didn't like what they found. It turned out that Zoom's end-to-end encryption wasn't quite end-to-end, that other Zoom meeting attendees could see a lot about you, and that pranksters and bored teenagers could "Zoom bomb" public meetings with shocking or rude content.
