MUMBAI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) told the special court on Saturday that suspended assistant police inspector Sachin Waze had a joint account and a locker with an accomplice at the Development Credit Bank (DCB), Versova.
The NIA has alleged that Rs 26.5 lakh was in the account on March 8.
However, incriminating material was removed from the locker on March 18—five days after Waze’s arrest on March 13, said additional solicitor general Anil Singh while seeking extension of Waze’s custody on Saturday. Special judge Prashant R Sitre sent Waze to NIA custody till April 7.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday seized a black colour Mercedes Benz, in relation to the Antilia bomb scare case. The probing agency has recovered a number plate of the Scorpio car, more than Rs 5 lakhs in cash, a note counting machine and some clothes.
Speaking on the matter, NIA IG Anil Shukla said, "Sachin Vaze used to drive this car but who it belongs to is being investigated." The National Investigation Agency is conducting a search of the car allegedly used by Mansukh Hiren on February 17.
The Mumbai Police has found that a Telegram channel through which Jaish-ul-Hind had claimed responsibility for placing an explosives-laden SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence was operated from inside or near Delhi's Tihar Jail.
