Fort Walton Beach Krewe of Bowlegs 66 Honor Guard set for duties Special to the Northwest Florida Daily News/USA TODAY NETWORK Bob and Tracy Brown Bob was lucky enough to meet Tracy, a Fort Walton Beach native, in Birmingham Alabama. They met while Bob was selling wine and Tracy was managing a restaurant in Five Points South.  After moving around a bit, they settled down in Plano, Texas, to raise their three children: Brandon, Natalie and Nicholas. Once the older two had moved out of the house, they were blessed to be able to move "home" and have been living in Shalimar for almost two years.

More than 275 Northwest Florida educators were nominated to win a free roof, and now it is down to the final three — Billie “Charisse” Stokes from Crestview High School, Donna Barton from Destin Elementary and Patrick Cole from Niceville High School. “As a local company that deeply cares about this community, we want to give back,” Erin Bakker, director of business development at SRI, said. “Early in my career I taught first and second grade at Destin Elementary, so I know firsthand that teachers deserve all the praise and appreciation we can give them.”

Breaking Barriers: Westville resident bound for Bristol Dirt Nationals

Special to Washington County News BRISTOL, Tenn. – Holmes County will be represented when the Bristol Dirt Nationals kick off next week, with Westville resident Sydney Kitchen slated to be the event’s only female stockcar driver. In addition to stock cars, the race will feature several different classes and offer an overall combined purse of more than $400,000. 22-year-old Kitchen was one of 20 drivers selected out of a lottery of more than 700 hopefuls from all over the U.S. after her husband, Braeden Kitchen, entered her in the race. Her stepdad, Craig Cole, bought a race car when she was 13, and she raced for the first time at Southern Raceway in Milton when she was 14.
