Northampton County’s number of inmates with COVID-19 triples in 2 weeks

Northampton County Prison officials on Tuesday reported the cumulative number of inmates who have tested positive for COVID-19 has tripled in two weeks.
The total number of inmates testing positive since March reached 86 as of Tuesday, up 207% from 28 on Dec. 1.
The number of inmates quarantining as of Tuesday was 31, or 5.8% of the total prison population of 537 inmates, the Northampton County Department of Corrections reported.
On the staff side, a cumulative 35 prison employees have tested positive for the coronavirus illness since March, up 40% from 25 on Dec. 1. Of those, six were still quarantining with 29 having finished their quarantine period.
