Products from every province attain coveted GI hallmark

The government has succeeded in registering geographical indication (GI) on products covering all 77 provinces in the country after Ang Thong s indigenous Ekkarat drum recently received certification from the Commerce Ministry.
According to deputy commerce minister Sinit Lertkrai, the indigenous Ekkarat drum is one of two GI products recently certified by the Intellectual Property Department under the Commerce Ministry. The other item is Thong Pha Phum rambutan, or ngoh Thong Pha Phum, from Kanchanaburi.
GI is a distinctive certificate used to identify a product as originating from a particular country, region or locality that has specific qualities, reputation or other unique characteristics.

AYUTTHAYA: One more Covid-19 infection has been detected in this central province, bringing the local total to 47, with three cases linked to Pornpat wet market in Pathum Thani province.
Provincial public health chief Peera Areerat said on Wednesday the new patient is a 25-year-old woman living in Phak Hai district. She is a niece of patient No 46, a vegetable vendor at Pornpat fresh market in Thanyaburi district of Pathum Thani
