The Assam government has ordered a high-level inquiry into a firing incident occurred in Central Assam s Nagaon district on Saturday where a former student leader was injured in police firing, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday.

Earlier, Samir K Sinha was posted as the principal secretary of the department of health and family welfare.

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 10 appointed senior IAS officer Samir K Sinha as the principal secretary to CM.
Earlier, the 1994 batch IAS officer was posted as the principal secretary of the department of health and family welfare. Sinha will replace Paban Borthakur, a 1989 batch IAS officer, who has been transferred as additional chief secretary to the cultural affairs department.
Further, Sinha has been relieved from the additional charge of principal secretary to health and family welfare department and transformation and development department said a notification.
