The Post 5 Seniors open the state tournament today against St. Joseph Post 11, with first pitch for the first-round game scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors haven’t won the Zone 1 Tournament just yet, but they have clinched a spot in the state tournament. The Post 5 Seniors scored six runs in the second inning and five more runs in the fourth inning Wednesday, which was more than enough to get by Washington Post 218 for a 12-4 victory to advance to the Zone 1 championship game at Ronsick Field.

Boasting a 19-1-1 record this season, the Post 5 Seniors begin postseason play tonight against Pacific Post 320 in the Missouri American Legion AAA Zone 1 Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Ronsick Field in Washington. Jefferson City has been unbeaten since June 12.
