New Palmer Elementary School projected to cost more than what was budgeted

The Easton Area School Board will vote later this month on whether to spend $36.1 million to build a new Palmer Elementary School.
The project cost is about 2% higher than the budgeted projection of $35.4 million, according to engineer Josh Grice.
“It was a competitive market. They were close numbers. We feel the district got the best number possible given the situation,” Grice said during the meeting Tuesday night. You can watch the meeting on YouTube.
Windsor Elementary Sends Sweet Hello to Virtual Classmates

Windsor Virtual students received a surprise from fellow in-person classmates as part of celebrating school Kindness Week. Palmer Elementary staff and in-person students made cards and posters and took photos of themselves holding them up. They then delivered them to all 31 of the school’s fully remote students. School Counselor Sandra Tredo, says the effort helped bridge the gap and possible isolation encountered by remote students. Tredo says students, whether they’re in the classroom or at home, need to feel like they’re part of a community and cared for.

Tarrant County health officials reported 919 COVID-19 hospitalizations Friday, a new county record.
The previous record happened the day before on Thursday when 898 people were hospitalized.
The county is averaging 870 hospitalizations the past 14 days, also a county record.
Local officials added 1,455 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total case count to 116,931 since tracking began in March.
