Labor MP Matt Thistlethwaite says the government “shouldn’t have to move to incentives” for Australians to get vaccinated.
“If the government had got the plan right and had been able to deliver on their vaccine plan we wouldn’t be in this situation,” he told Sky News.
On Sunday, acting Prime Minister Michael McCormack said it is “not a race” to get people vaccinated despite the coronavirus outbreak in Melbourne.
“Try telling that to the people of Victoria, who are in their fourth lockdown,” Mr Thistlethwaite said.
“They know it’s a race and that Australia’s losing it at the moment.”
