Rutland s high Covid-19 case rate attributed to coronavirus outbreak at Stocken Prison in Stretton by MP Alicia Kearns

Rutland has one of the highest Covid-19 rates in England and the MP for the county says it is down to the outbreak at Stocken Prison.
She said around half of all cases in the county could be attributed to the prison.

Mrs Kearns said: The Covid-19 outbreak at HMP Stocken worries us all, and my thoughts are particularly with staff who have worked so hard during the pandemic and all those with loved ones who have tested positive.

Lucy Frazer appeared on LBC to announce the Government is putting aside an extra £70million to house criminals after their release. She explained the worst offenders like terrorists would be put in temporary housing run by the Ministry of Justice and less serious lags would be put into hostels for three months. Nick Ferrari blasted the move as many struggle to get housing or permanent residence as the Government spends extra money to provide accommodation to prison leavers.

A Sri Lankan probe panel investigating the last month s prison riot in which 11 inmates were killed has concluded that the prisoners staged the protest in fear of contracting the deadly coronavirus, an official said on Saturday.
