ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Hammad Azhar, announced on Monday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Taking to Twitter, Azhar revealed that he has been self-isolating at home after testing positive for the infection.
"I have tested positive for Covid-19 and self isolating at home. Requesting everyone for prayers. JazakAllah Khair," he tweeted.
Politician Raza Haroon and federal minister Zartaj Gul Wazir prayed for Azhar's swift recovery.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar announced on Monday that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
In a tweet, the minister announced that he is self-isolating at home after his COVID-19 test came back positive.
He urged everyone to pray for his recovery.
"I have tested positive for Covid-19 and self-isolating at home. Requesting everyone for prayers. JazakAllah Khair," he tweeted.
After Hammad's tweet, his colleagues wished him a swift recovery in subsequent tweets.
Steel sector has requested the government to reduce the minimum tax rate for dealers and distributors citing that the tax was counter-productive for them to function effectively.

ISLAMABAD: Imported sugar is soon to be available in the market that will further reduce the sweetener’s prices for domestic consumers, industries minister said on Monday.
Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar told the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) that retail prices of sugar witnessed a decline during the last week and would come down further as imported sugar would be available soon in the domestic market.
Azhar also informed the committee about the significant decline in the international prices of palm oil and soyabean, which will eventually reduce the recent upward pressure on the prices of edible oil in the domestic market.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar told the Senate on Friday that there had been a record debt servicing since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regime took over, adding that they were paying back US$ 10 billion annually.
During the Question Hour, the minister told the House that the Country’s Foreign Exchange Reserves had increased to about US$ 20 billion. He told the State Bank of Pakistan had reserves of US$ 12 to 13 billion.
Hammad Azhar said the Foreign Exchange Reserves had increased owing to improvement in exports and remittances.
ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s key decision-making body, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), Thursday evening approved Rs 37.9 billion worth Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project Phase II.
Phase-II of the “Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project for Establishment of Cross-Border OFC Network (Khunjerab-Karachi) Along China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Routes” was approved at the total cost of Rs 37.9 billion.
The project will provide alternate path for international connectivity through Northern Border of Pakistan with China and would transform Pakistan as a Digital Gateway of regional connectivity.
The COVID-19 response and other Natural Calamities Control Program was approved by the ECNEC at the cost of Rs 70 billion as federal share, said the statement.
