Last Saturday (March 6), the LGU began its vaccination roll out and administered the first doses of Sinovac vaccine to 200 medical frontliners of the Laguna Provincial Hospital – San Pablo City District Hospital.
On Sunday (March 7), 150 medical frontliners of QualiMed Hospital in Santa Rosa City were administered the AstraZeneca vaccines. The ceremonial vaccine roll out was witnessed by National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. who is also the country’s vaccine czar.

American manufacturer Moderna Inc. will soon supply over 13 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines through its bilateral deal with the government, with deliveries coming in mid-2021, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has announced.

Instead, Galvez said the inoculation of government officials is one way to increase the public’s confidence on the country’s vaccination program and their uptake of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Nakita natin na wala naman gaanong nag-violate. Sa LGU nakita natin bumaba to 13 percent ang uptake ng Sinovac. They wanted to ‘yung LGUs, mayors, captains alam nila na once sila ang nauna, the uptake will go as high to 70 to 80 percent (We have seen that there were only a few who violated [the priority list]. In the local government units, we have seen that the uptake of Sinovac vaccines went down to 13 percent. The LGUs, mayors, and captains knew that once they lead [the vaccine rollout], the uptake will go as high to 70 to 80 percent),” Galvez said during the vaccine rollout at the QualiMed Hospital in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
