On the evening of 18 November, 1985, Jay, an innocent-looking analyst, left his office at the US Naval Intelligence.
Jay was in his early thirties, looked slightly overweight, sported a very eighties moustache and wore thick glasses. Heading home for the evening, he took with him a ream of classified documents.
Before heading out, he had called his wife Anne and told her he'd be home soon. The couple were due to meet some Israeli friends at a restaurant that evening.
But unbeknownst to Jay, four carloads of FBI agents and naval counterintelligence officers were waiting for him in the car park.

During the course of 2017, a series of explosive letters landed in the Defense Ministry. They were sent by Amnon Zichroni, one of Israel’s top lawyers, who has since died. The texts were polite, matter-of-fact. But from beneath the legal jargon emerged unsubtle hints about a gloomy chapter in Israel’s history, previously untold.
Zichroni revealed the tip of the iceberg of the following story: Israel tried to send the asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan to countries whose unstable regimes were not likely to guarantee their wellbeing. The contacts were conducted clandestinely, via unofficial channels. The boundaries of the mandate placed in the hands of the state’s envoys were demarcated with a wink and a nod, in some cases literally without words. From there it was but a short step to the payment of bribes to officials in Africa, in order to start ball rolling.

Essentially, Israel runs the national security state. Israeli companies can spy on you. Where did they get the capability to become world leaders in the technology sector? The United States. Part of the reason why Israeli tech firms are so competitive in the global market is due to
a form of quasi-state capitalism, in which the Israeli government subsidizes 50 percent of Israeli tech firms' R&D costs. This gives these firms the ability to sell their goods and services at significantly lower prices than their American counterparts. This policy is socialist in nature, which Phil Giraldi pointed out in a speech for the Council for the National Interest:

Unraveling the Tangled Web of Deceit That Cost Jonathan Pollard His Freedom for 35 Years
For decades, Jonathan Pollard, the only American ever sentenced to life in prison for passing classified information to an ally — a crime with a median sentence of two to four years — and a small core group of loyal advocates, led by his wife, Mrs. Esther Pollard, fought a double, uphill battle. They sought to reverse what impartial observers have long referred to as a gross miscarriage of justice and obtain his freedom. Simultaneously, they also had to contend with a steady stream of misinformation seeking to distort the record.
