KURNOOL: Washermen from around 40 families in Karimaddela village of Gadivemula mandal were ostracised by villagers as they demanded a hike in wages for washing dirty clothes. About 40 families eke out a living washing clothes in the village, which has a population of 5000. Trouble began when the washerman demanded enhancement of annual maintenance from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000.
Haystacks destroyed in fire, 500 cows rescued

Twenty haystacks of Gayatri Goshala were destroyed in a fire on Monday evening, but 500 cows housed in the same compound were taken to safety. Fire-fighting personnel were battling with the blaze four hours after it began at 4.30 p.m. on the city outskirts.
According to District Fire Officer V. Sreenivasa Reddy, the 500 cows in the goshala and its sheds were safe and four fire tenders from the city and Kodumuru were trying to put out the flames when reports last came.
Situated in Ward No.28 along National Highway No.44, the cause for the fire is said to be irresponsible smoking by some persons.

919 villages to be covered under the scheme in Kurnool district
Drone-assisted survey of lands began on Tuesday after a gap of 100 years at Nandipadu in Kalluru mandal of Panyam Assembly Constituency under the YSR Jagananna Saswatha Bhoo Hakku-Bhoo Raksha scheme. Bhoomi puja was performed by District Collector G. Veerapandian in the presence of local MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Kurnool MLA Hafeez Khan, and Kodumur MLA J. Sudhakar.

KURNOOL: YSRCP MLAs throughout the state are gearing up for a "never-before-ever-after" celebrations to mark the 49th birthday of their leader and Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday.
YSRCP central office has directed all its MLAs to organise blood donation camps in their respective constituencies across the state. Attempts are also being made to gain entry into the Guinness Book of World Records by organising record-breaking blood donation camps. Party leaders feel this could well be possible with Covid-19 receding in the state and party cadre, apart from Jagan fans, being enthusiastic about donating blood at all mandal headquarters in the state.
