HALTON- Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark says that prior to Sept. 11 a regional facilitator will be appointed to assess Halton’s two-tier government.
Ontario says it will appoint "facilitators" to look at whether cities and towns in six regional governments could become independent, but the heads of at least three of those municipalities say no dissolution is needed.

SDG Counties Council received a presentation from Habitat from Humanity and from BT Engineering, will be accepting comments from the public on the plan to enhance Alexandria’s downtown, and approved over $170,000 in donations.

· Habitat for Humanity has asked The United Counties of SDG for a donation towards their efforts to bring affordable housing to the people of SDG.
· The administration will bring a report back to Council with recommendations on how to support Habitat for Humanity.

On Feb. 4, officials at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) in Canada received notification that two horses at a facility in the Regional Municipality of Halton tested positive for neurologic equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1).
The horses exhibited fever and were tested as the result of an investigation into the illnesses and subsequent euthanasia of three other horses at their facility between Jan. 29-Feb. 3. Those horses had exhibited severe incoordination and recumbency (down and unable to rise).
The facility’s manager has enacted enhanced biosecurity protocols and has restricted movement to and from the facility, which is under veterinary supervision.
