CHITRAL: The body of a married woman, who had allegedly committed suicide in Torkhow area of Upper Chitral, was recovered from a river near Nishko village here on Tuesday.
A Rescue 1122 official told Dawn that the woman was reportedly suffering from mental illness. He said the woman ended her life by jumping into river. The official said that search for her had been going on for last two days.
He said that Rescue 1122 swimmers faced difficulty in tracing out the body as the river was in high floods due to melting of glaciers.
Separately, the residents of Reshun village, whose land was acquired by the National Highway Authority (NHA) for construction of a diversion for the Chitral-Booni Road, have demanded payment of compensation.

CHITRAL: Three persons, including a woman and a child, were killed and 11 others sustained injuries when a van fell into a ravine near Reshun village in Upper Chitral on Saturday.
Police and eyewitnesses said that the vehicle, which was on its way to Booni from Peshawar.
“The driver lost control over the steering while negotiating a turn at Doomon Gol and the vehicle fell into the gorge,” said an eyewitness.
He said the driver of the van and passengers died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Hamid Ali Shah (driver), Shabana and Syed Hassan.
