KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The government is under pressure to lower the size of the projected expenditure for the current fiscal year, citing a massive shortfall in revenue collection.
THE Bureau of Customs collected P883.62 billion for the year 2023, up 2.46 percent from the previous year’s revenue collection of P862.42 billion as its drive against smuggling also saw it file scores of criminal cases and revoke the accreditation of more than 100 importers, the Department of Finance (DOF) said in its yearender report on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024.
BANKE, Jan 15: The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has achieved 54 percent of its annual revenue collection target in the first half of the current fiscal year (FY) 2023/24.
In the last financial year, the department had a revenue target (from April 1 to December 31) of Rs 3036.95 crore of which it received Rs. 2136.22 crore – around 70% of the total amount – during the period.
