Rockhampton businesses can now register their interest to be part of the redevelopment of Rockhampton’s railyards.
The State Government wants a 17-hectare section of the Bolsover Street site to contribute to rail manufacturing.
Regional Roads and Train Manufacturing Assistant Minister Bruce Saunders said the site could become a regional rail supply chain hub.
“We’re moving ahead with our election commitment to build trains in Maryborough and Rocky will play an important part in the supply chain,” he said.
“Queensland’s new trains will be built in Maryborough, but we see the potential for components and materials needed during manufacturing to be supplied from other parts of the state like Rockhampton.”

The Rookwood Weir project has reached another major milestone with the new Riverslea Bridge being officially opened.
Rising 18 metres above the river bed, the $12.5 million bridge was built to replace the old Riverslea Road causeway, which will be submerged once the Fitzroy River water rises from the weir.
It created 30 jobs during construction and was the third road project to be completed as part of the Rookwood Weir works.
Queensland Senator Matt Canavan said the water would come within four metres of the top of the new bridge in two years’ time, with the new $367.2 million weir being 10km upstream.

"This budget lays out a plan for tax cuts for low- and middle-income earners, more jobs, better conditions for small and medium sized business to prosper as well as major investment in roads and infrastructure for Capricornia," Ms Landry said. About 56,700 taxpayers in the Capricornia electorate will save up to $2745 from tax benefits this year. The Job Trainer Fund has supported 3190 apprentices in Capricornia so far and these new measures were put in place to create more opportunities for apprentices and trainees with expanded wage subsidies.
