Anyone who likes their movies to have “someone to root for” should stay far away from J Blakeson’s unapologetically sour and cynical neo-noir I Care A Lot, starring Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage as terrible people at war with each other.
In her most recent film
I Care a Lot, Rosamund Pike plays Marla Grayson, a court-appointed guardian who steals the assets of her elderly wards. Sheâs a shark in designer pantsuits; absolutely fearless and willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
But when I caught up with the formidable 42-year-old actor via Zoom, it was hard to reconcile the high-energy character who consumed all of the oxygen in every room with this thoughtful, low-key mother of two who has resumed her childhood studies of the cello during the pandemic.
âPeople are nice and complimentary to your face but you feel the underlying judgment; that Iâm a flash in the pan.â
