SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a few weekends of verbal warnings to drivers making right turns from Sawmill and North Upper Truckee roads when prohibited, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) ticketed 22 drivers on Memorial Day.
CHP patrol units wrote eight citations at Sawmill Road and 14 at North Upper Truckee Monday. Four of the violators had local addresses, five were frequent visitors and four said they were tourists. Four of the ticketed did say they were told by someone to take that route, according to CHP South Lake Tahoe Officer Ruth Loehr.
The new turn restrictions prohibit right-hand turns from North Upper Truckee Road to westbound U.S. Highway 50 and from Sawmill Road to westbound U.S Highway 50 on Sundays and holidays between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The pilot restrictions will terminate on October 31, 2021, and it is not known at this time if it will be extended.

210 Freeway in Highland, Redlands to close for several nights next week [Redlands Daily Facts, Calif.]
Jan. 30—All eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway are scheduled to be closed in Redlands and Highland for several nights the first week of February, among other street and connector closures that are part of a widening project.
The eastbound closures will last from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and are slated between Base Line and Fifth Street in Highland the nights of Monday, Feb. 1; Tuesday, Feb. 2; and Thursday, Feb. 4. A closure between Fifth Street in Highland and San Bernardino Avenue in Redlands is slated for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
A woman was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the face in Fontana, and a man who drove her to the hospital was arrested in connection with the crime, according to the Fontana Police Department.
On Dec. 21 at about 7:18 a.m., police received a call from the hospital with information about the 38-year-old victim. Officers went to the location and learned that Mose Thomas, 34, of Rialto had taken the victim there. Thomas is known to the victim and involved in an ongoing intimate relationship with her, police said.
Officers then went to the 16900 block of San Bernardino Avenue and located the crime scene at an apartment complex in the area.

police. they have identified the shooter as syed farook and tashfeen malik. they say they were in some kind of romantic relationship, married or engaged, boyfriend and girlfriend, but initial reports say there were three shooters turned out to be incorrect. just two shooters inside the facility. they say a third person caught running away from the scene of the gun battle was not one of the shooters. >> when the officer involved shooting occurred, the initial officers that we had information from did not see anybody specifically fleeing the vehicle. it was other responding vehicles that saw this person running away from the scene, stopped them and detained him. we initially put out that we had information that there were upwards of three shooters. right now as we continue to drill down our information and the witness statements that we have, it really looks like we have two shooters and we're pretty comfortable that the two shooters that we believe went into the building are the two shooters that are deceased on san bernardino avenue. >> still don't know anything
11:14 a.m. for police to arrive on the scene at inland regional center. at the inland regional center, we should also note that explosives were found. they said that explosive devices were found at the scene and disposed of. and, again, that was something they were looking for here at the crime scene in san bernardino avenue. >> police describing those explosive devices leaning more toward pipe bomb-like design. there's been a lot made out of whether the two suspects had thrown something out of the vehicle where you are as well. >> reporter: that's right. they said they were searching that area. the police chief did not confirm that during this press conference, but what he did confirm were found at the crime scene behind me were four different weapons. two caliber assault rifles and a smith and wesson m-15, and two semi-automatic handguns were
found himself literally between the bullets. david, explain what happened and how you were on that road when cops came upon this couple. >> yeah, i was working another part of the story. i was at a community center where families were waiting for loved ones to be bused back. and while i was there, a woman on the street told me that a co-worker of hers was in lockdown in a different part of town because there was a sighting of the suv. so i had a location and i went to check that out. en route i saw several police cars turn from a street in san bernardino called tippecanoe, a major thoroughfare off of san bernardino avenue. so i just -- to check it out, i started following them. i turned on to san bernardino avenue and heard shots and then there were whipping sounds going past my car. and i pulled over, got out of
the witness statements we had, it really looks like two shooters. and we're comfortable that the two shooters in the building are the two shooters deceased on san bernardino avenue. >> how many places have you searched thus far? >> so we have this crime scene. we have the crime scene up on san bernardino avenue, we have at house in redlands, which is where the pursuit originated. that's being actively worked, as well. and as i said, mr. farook was a county employee. so we have obviously secured his office space in case that has any component to the investigation. >> do you have his date of birth? >> is that a residence of his? particularly? >> he is on -- it is a residence listed for him. i don't know if he was living there. >> what was the motive, then? >> we don't have the motive at this point. and i'm really being careful. because we all know when these types of things happen. we've seen this happen time and time again. there's a lot of information that comes out in the first day
