Working behind the scenes to keep the lights on and mills running

A couple of months after joining the energy sector, I was very excited about a looming trip to one of the newest mini power generation plants in this country known as Siti2 in Bukwo district, Sebei sub-region Eastern Uganda.
This trip was exciting in many ways because I was in the company of many technical members from Umeme, Uganda’s largest power distribution company led by its managing director Selestino Babungi and my colleagues from the media fraternity.
We hit the road at 6am from Kampala traversing through the eastern districts of Jinja, Iganga, Namutumba, Budaka, Mbale, Sironko, Kapchorwa and
