Prof. Anura Manathunga is appointed to fill the vacancy left behind by the retirement of the current Director General Dr. Senarath Dissanayake from the public service.
Accordingly, Mr. Manathunga will be appointed as the new Director General of the Department of Archeology from January 01.
Prof. Manathunga is a Senior Professor in the Department of Archeology, University of Kelaniya. He is also the Director of the Center for Heritage Studies at the University.
