NRL club stalwarts: The foundation clubs

I’m told it takes a lot to play just one game in the NRL, so it stands to reason that to play 50, 100, 150, or more games must take not only an extraordinary level of talent and perseverance, but also a good dose of luck, and a willingness to put your body through the […]

NRL 2021: Australia Kangaroo, New Zealand Kiwis, World Cup, James Maloney, Dean Whare, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, John Kear

Wales coach John Kear has suggested the World Cup go ahead without the Kangaroos and Kiwis if those nations are unable to send teams to England at the end of the year. It's unlikely that this will come to pass but it's worth the experiment - how strong would the teams be if the Kangaroos and Kiwis were to select Super League-based players, such as James Maloney, Matt Prior, Jackson Hastings, Dean Whare, Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Thomas Leuluai. Australia overlooked the likes of Ricky Stuart, Laurie Daley, Steve Renouf, Glenn Lazarus and Allan Langer during the Super League war and won the 1995 World Cup against the odds with a team of ARL-aligned players.

Walker makes NRL look easy in Knights rout

Brett Morris injury mars Roosters NRL win AAP 2 hrs ago Pamela Whaley © Darren Pateman/AAP PHOTOS Brett Morris's NRL career could be over after a injury in the Sydney Roosters' win over Newcastle. Brett Morris's dazzling NRL career could be over in the most agonising way after he suffered a serious knee injury in the Sydney Roosters' 38-4 win over Newcastle. On a night in which teenage halfback Sam Walker dominated to continue his meteoric rise, the Roosters were left devastated by the injury to their stand-in skipper for the game. Defying his age, the 34-year-old Morris is still considered one of the best wingers in the league after 276 games but he was left in tears after suffering a suspected ACL injury in the dying minutes on Saturday night.
