The Council has said: “This would help to reduce traffic along this route, reducing noise and air pollution, and improving bus journey times. “Reducing the volume of vehicles in the Kirkgate area will also help to provide a safer, cleaner and more vibrant environment for everyone to enjoy.”

AN international photography competition is launching in Saltaire to mark a special anniversary. Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are invited to enter the event, being run by Saltaire Inspired, Saltaire Collection and Saltaire History Club to commemorate 20 years of Saltaire’s UNESCO World Heritage Site inscription. A selection of the best entries will be shown as part of a larger heritage exhibition, Saltaire: Foundation and Legacy, running from May 28 - June 20 in the old boardroom at Salts Mill. Cash prizes, of: 1st £100; 2nd £75; 3rd £50; People’s Choice £25, will be awarded to four winners. The theme of the competition is ‘International Saltaire.
