arctic air now. a blast right the way down from the north. so, as these weather fronts approach, they'll turn to snow. they certainly have done during the today, and that threat remains of snow, particularly northern scotland, one or two for the east coast and northern ireland. but we could also see a smattering in the south tonight and increasingly snow later tomorrow right across the south, including the southeast, as much as 5—10 centimetres of snow, which will cause problems, disruption and a widespread snow event then into thursday, further north across parts of wales, northern england, northern ireland and into scotland. we'll be firming up on the details, but potentially a lot of snow, perhaps more than we've seen for some time. the snow showers continue to come across the north through this evening and then this weather system perhaps just gets a little bit more active through the early hours and might give a light covering to some in the morning or by morning, i should say. and it'll be icy as well, where we've had the showers and where we have that mixture of rain on the coast but snow inland overnight. the coldest night of the winter

fronts will fall as snow, because we're all in the arctic air right now and we've got weather fronts waiting in the atlantic to bring that snow in. but, for the rest of the day, our smattering of sleet and snow has cleared the south. most of the snow showers will continue across the north and the east, northern ireland, and it's cold out there despite the sunshine. and overnight, temperatures will drop like a stone. it's going to be the coldest night of the year so far across the glens of scotland. further snow showers around the coast for northern ireland, too. but this is obviously going to give concern. we could see a few centimetres of snow across some southern parts of england, possibly south wales, by morning. so we could wake up to a light covering of snow across the southern half of the country. a cold night, as i've already said, right across the board. a crisp start. ice will be an issue, of course, tomorrow morning where we've had those showers, where we have that lying snow, then a brief respite before we get another area of rain and then sleet turning to sleet and snow in that cold air across southern england, south wales, the south midlands, the south of east anglia as well. again, we could see five to ten centimetres over the hills.

dollars. qantas staff getting a bit of a boost as well. and, yes, businesses back for qantas. you are up—to—date. have a lovely and i will see you soon. hello there. wednesday brought our first appreciable rain for some time. in fact, for eastern england, more rain than we've seen all february so far. but the other element was, of course, a cooler day. temperatures dipped from the 13 in harden on tuesday to just 8 on wednesday, which is about average for the time of year. and the change was due to a change in wind direction behind this rather raggedy looking weather front on our satellite picture, the north—westerly wind developed, and that north—westerly wind is blowing our cloud away further south, although we've had a smattering of snow across the moors and the south—west. so, it is cold air. we could see something a little bit wintry on the hills as that continues southwards through the rest of the night. behind it, temperatures are dropping to freezing and, of course, where we're seeing any wintriness.
