Union Joint Secretary concludes 3 day Doda visit - Scoop News Jammu Kashmir

Doda, June 03 (Scoop News)-Exhaustive interactions with various stakeholders besides visits to Water Supply Schemes, related infrastructure marked the conclusion of three day visit of Union Joint Secretary, Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region and Central Nodal Officer (CNO) for Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA), 'Catch the Rain' (CTR), Angshuman Dey, and Gargee Sharma, Scientist D, CGWB, member of Jal Shakhti Abhiyaan, to the district. During their visit in the district, they interacted with almost 8000 students and teachers, BDC Chairpersons, DDC Councillors, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Pani Simitis, common masses besides officers and officials of the district administration. On final day of their visit, they inspected GSRs, FHTCs, gravity lines, filter plants, Water Supply Schemes and other infrastructure under Jal Jeevan Mission. They met panchayat people at Dhar Chobia Village and also toured Jai Valley on the last day of their visit. Union Joint Secretary conducted a detailed assessment of various crucial aspects of the program and reviewed implementation of the programme in the district. He reviewed the financial and physical progress achieved, so far, in the district and appreciated the efforts of the district administration and other stakeholders in effectively implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan. He also visited Amrit Sarovars, Water Sources, Streams, Rivers, Forests, Jai Valley and other important places in the district. He launched plantation drive at Bhalla tehsil of Bhaderwah sub district. During the visits, Union Joint Secretary sensitised the locals about the need for water conservation, its judicious use, protection of water sources and rain water harvesting to make safe and sufficient water available in future. He asked the PRIs to plan under various developmental schemes for conservation of water and rain water harvesting. He also emphasised wider publicity and awareness on the importance of rain water harvesting and its techniques. During the visit, Union Joint Secretray also launched a unique campaign among the students called "Mai Be Pani Champion". He asked the students to share their stories and activities in conservation of water and under Catch the Rain campaign. District Development Commissioner, Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, presented a detailed report on the steps being taken up by the district administration to harvest the rain water and recharge the ground water in the district. DC informed that all the building constructions within the municipal limits of Doda, Bhaderwah and Thathri have been ordered to have mandatory rain harvesting mechanisms in place. He said that every household in rural areas has built soakage pits near their homes under MGNREGA in the previous financial year. Extensive awareness campaigns are being run in schools through Prabhari Officer to motivate the students to imbibe in them the habits of water conservation, he added. DC furtehr informed that 85 Amrit Sarovars (sacred ponds) have been established last year by the administration. Besides, there is target of constructing one Amrit Sarovar in all of the 237 panchayats of the district during current financial year, he added. It was informed that the district has successfully restored 1021 water bodies through various agencies such as RDD, IWMP, Jal Shakti, Horticulture, Agriculture and Forest departments. Additionally, the district aims to restore 792 water bodies this year besides geo-tagging of all 492 water bodies in Doda. Pertinently, the Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a flagship program of Government of India focused on ensuring water security and conservation in the country. The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation, promote water harvesting and improve infrastructure for water storage and distribution.

Union Joint Secretary holds interactive session with 7500 students, 800 teachers

Doda, June 01 (Scoop News)-Union Joint Secretary, Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region and Central Nodal Officer (CNO) for Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) 'Catch the Rain' (CTR), Angshuman Dey, along with Scientist D, CGWB, Gargee Sharma, members of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, who are on three day visit to the district here, had an exhaustive interactive session with students of 108 Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools on day first of their visit. The students and teachers of Govt Higher Secondary School Boys Doda and Government Higher Secondary School Girls Doda attended the session in person while students and teachers of other Higher Secondaries and High Schools participated virtually. Prior to interaction with students, the Union Joint Secretary conducted a detailed assessment of various crucial aspects of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan. He reviewed implementation of programme in the district in a meeting with SE Jal Shakti and other concerned engineers and officials of the department. He reviewed the financial and physical progress achieved, so far, in the district and appreciated the efforts of the district administration and other stakeholders in effectively implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan. While interacting with the gathering, he asked the students to understand the need for water conservation, its judicious use, protection of water sources and rain water harvesting to make safe and sufficient water available for our future also. He asked the students to be the champions of water conservation and spread awareness to motivate the society towards this noble cause. Union Joint Secretary e-reviews implementation of JSA-CTR in Doda

Doda, May 16 (Scoop News)- Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Central Nodal Officer for Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA)- Catch the Rain (CTR), Angshuman Dey, today virtually chaired a review meeting regarding implementation of the Abhiyan in Doda besides assessing impact and progress on the programme across the district. Union Joint Secretary had detailed assessment of different vital aspects of the programme besides reviewing financial and physical progress achieved, so far, in the district. He appreciated the efforts of district administration and other stakeholders in effectively implementing the Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district. He emphasized wide publicity of the Abhiyan through IEC activities for maximum coverage of beneficiaries. He informed the he will be visiting the district in the last week of this month to discuss progress, bottlenecks and issues which need immediate attention of the government to make JSA a grand success. District Development Commissioner, Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, made a detailed presentation on progress achieved during last year besides highlighting activities proposed for the current financial year. He also elaborately talked on the Water Conservation Plan 2023-24. DDC apprised the Union Joint Secretary that 85 Amrit Sarovars have been established last year while one Amrit Sarovar has been proposed for every village of the district during the current financial year. He said that the district shall develop terrace type Amrit Sarovars keeping in view the sloppy topography. He further informed that more than 10 lakh saplings were planted last year in an area of about 2869 acres. The district has restored 1021 water bodies through different agencies like RDD, IWMP, Jal Shakti, Horticulture, Agriculture, and Forest departments during the period. The district is expected to restore 792 water bodies this year besides geo-tagging of all the 492 water bodies of Doda.
