Tahal was originally set up in 1942 to transport water to Jewish settlements in what was then Palestine. It has now petitioned for protection from its creditors, mainly banks.
The projects include the development of Israel’s domestic water sector as well as the design of how to supply water to neighboring countries, such as Jordan.
