Some of the farmers forcibly evicted from Oluwa Forest Reserve in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State by the government on Wednesday protested against their eviction. The state government had evicted over 10,000 farmers from the forest reserve. The affected farmers are predominantly cocoa farmers. The company allegedly behind the eviction is a private company called Sao Agro-Allied Services Ltd.

The affected farmers mostly cultivate cocoa, cashew, banana, yam, and cassava at the government reserve. The company allegedly behind the eviction is a private company called Sao Agro-Allied Services Ltd. SaharaReporters gathered that the farmers’ camps were on Tuesday invaded by hundreds of armed men with Amotekun Corps, soldiers and personnel of Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC).
