Shahabuddin, ex-MP and 'don of Siwan', dies | India News

NEW DELHI: Gangster and politician Mohammad Shahabuddin, who once ruled Siwan with criminal impunity, died of a Covid-19 infection on Saturday while serving a life term in Delhi’s Tihar jail for a double murder. He was 53. The former MP had been lodged in high-security jail number 2 at the Tihar Jail Complex in a murder case. The Delhi prison administration said Shahabuddin had been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital on April 20 after he showed symptoms of Covid, and was shifted to the ICU three days ago. Director-general (prisons) Sandeep Goel said they received information from the hospital that Shahabuddin had died during treatment. Shahabuddin had been the terror of Siwan for many years. An RJD MP four times and twice an MLA, political patronage was said to have allowed him to cultivate his infamy for illegal profit.

Delhi HC dismisses plea of 2 suspected terror accused challenging order extending their judicial custody ANI | Updated: Jan 29, 2021 15:26 IST New Delhi [India], January 29 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has dismissed the plea of two suspected terror accused challenging a trial court order extending their judicial custody for another 45 days. A single-judge bench of Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar on Friday dismissed the plea of Najmus Sakib and Al Mamun Kamal. Both of them have sought to set aside the impugned orders dated December 16, 2020, passed by the Special Judge NIA, Patiala House Court, New Delhi, whereby the period of investigation and custody of the above petitioners was extended for a further period of 45 days with directions to the investigating agency to expedite the investigation.
