Why Final Four brings little joy to Division III basketball programs

Brian Morehouse is a coach without a basketball tournament a champion searching for a championship that won’t be held which has made March Madness truly maddening. “Driving my wife nuts is what I’ve been doing,” Morehouse, the Hope College women’s basketball coach, said. Hope is ranked No.1 in NCAA Division III and hasn’t lost in two years but it can’t play for the national championship for the second straight year because… well. we ll get to that heartbreaking, frustrating mess in a second. “What have you been doing?” I asked him. “My cars have never been cleaner,” Morehouse said with a laugh. “My garage has never been cleaner. I have a burn pile the size of a small island in my back woods that I ve cleaned and added to it. So you just try to find things to fill the void.”
