Melissa Stauffer, a teacher at Virginia Elementary School, has been selected as this month’s Feature a Teacher honoree.
The Feature a Teacher Award, sponsored by the Journal-Courier and The Farmers State Bank and Trust Co., honors teachers who have gone above and beyond their normal teaching duties and stand out as leaders in education.
Stauffer has been a part of the Virginia school district for 19 years. The pre-kindergarten teacher was nominated for helping hundreds of students begin their education path as a Redbird.
“She is not only able to help our students gain the foundational skills to begin their learning careers, but also begins the important partnerships with our families,” Principal Mekelle Neathery said. “Mrs. Stauffer holds high expectations for herself and is always exploring different opportunities to further enhance the learning experience for our students.
