Biotech firm BioGX to invest $5 million in Alabama growth plans

Birmingham's BioGX was already growing, but demand for its COVID-19 testing products hastened its plans to move to a new headquarters this year with 30 additional employees. (BioGX)
Birmingham-based molecular diagnostics company BioGX plans to expand its research, development and manufacturing capabilities at a new corporate headquarters in Shelby County, where it will beef up its workforce.
The Birmingham Business Alliance announced that BioGX has purchased a building on Valleydale Road for the move from its current location at Innovation Depot, a business incubator in downtown Birmingham.

Birmingham’s BioGX will be pumping $5 million into Shelby County, moving its corporate headquarters to a Valleydale Road location in Shelby County, in a move that should add 30 new full-time employees.
BioGX made the announcement today through the Birmingham Business Alliance, saying the move should take place in several phases this year. The company is currently based at Birmingham’s Innovation Depot.
BioGX applies molecular biology to medical testing to diagnose and monitor disease, detect risk and decide what treatments work best. The new space will add research and development and manufacturing capabilities.
