they can tell a story that is consistent with the testimony, yes, i remember her saying this to me at the time, that can be very persuasive testimony for a jury to say, no, she didn't just make this up, this year or last year, she has been telling this same story since way back when it happened. and in a case like this, this is the kind of testimony that can really tip the balance to that 51% that a civil plaintiff needs to prevail. >> trump's attorneys tried to argue that carroll is in it for money, part of a political vendetta. we heard a little bit about that on cross examination, trump's attorney asking about her political affiliation, the negative things she said about the former president. does that undermine her testimony? >> well, it is a classic tactic for cross examination is to try to demonstrate to the jury that the person has a bias to lie, to attack the credibility. but i think it is something that lawyers tend to overplay. just because somebody doesn't like you doesn't mean that everything they're saying about
we saw a great deal of progress. we are seeing just the opposite now, an effort to rollback things. that's why you saw this past week this republican budget proposal put forward, instead of dealing with the debt limit as we should, we all believe america ought to pay its debts like we all do. the full faith and credit of the government is at stake. yet, the republican party does not want to do that. they want to make further cuts into snap programs, medicaid, medicare. they want to eliminate funding for student loans. just a number of horrific matters that have nothing to do with governing. but rather as if they've got a vendetta they want to unleash because they've been in the minority for so long. we've got to stand up against that. people need to talk about it, be honest about it. on the issue of joe biden, has he delivered everything under the sun? no. no president ever does. but he has done more to advance the agenda that most african americans consider a part of
going after, he said florida is a place where woke goes to die. it's remarkable how much has changed and how different he looks now heading into may than he did in january. and the disney feud and fight is sort of exhibit a of that. republicans inside florida and out of florida are growing increasingly concern wanted from all wings of the party that he's going after there specific company. it looks like a vendetta. it's not going so well for him, frankly. disney has been in florida a long time, more than 50 years. and will likely be there longer than he is. this is an example of all of his opponents are sort of a -- piling onthis. we heard it from nikki haley, from donald trump, as well. it's unclear how any of this is helping his presidential campaign which even before it starts is floundering a bit. >> let me get scott jennings into this. do your fellow republicans, scott, the republicans that you're talking to, think desantis has stumbled in this fight with disney?

playing field as all the other corporations in the state of florida. that sounds like a common sense, not necessarily anti-business position. if you frame it the other way, the way trump and haley are framing it, it does look like ron desantis has a vendetta that he's carrying out against this company, weaponizing the government against corporations. it's not a winning position. so it's going to be interesting to see whose argument on this issue prevails. >> martha: we'll see how it plays out. lastly, i also had the chance to ask haley about her stance on abortion after that big speech yesterday. she isn't taking a firm position on how it should be handled at the federal level. not really specific details. but she says that won't be an issue for her in the presidential race. listen. >> is it a risk not to be more specific with your plan? >> no. i think it's about addition. it's about not alienating something that is incredibly personal to women and to men.

he's ready to jail. so he had, like jailhouse wedding. yeah yeah, actually, i'm no. they did get married. um so, yeah, he was really looking forward to this. this what was in front of the criminal court of appeals, and he was really hopeful. that they were going to finally see his side of things and he was going to get out and be able to actually spend time with her. and so to hear him say that, you know he's asking about this date. am i going to have to prepare to diet that broke me today? i have to ask without knowing much about the case. besides what i read before, you know, knowing that we were gonna do this segment. why why haven't they granted? you know any of these appeals? what's exactly going on? if you ask don knight his attorney. he thinks there's a vendetta. i mean, that's the only explanation that he can come up with because there it has been just so much evidence and again. they're not even asking for the case to just go away. they just want a new hearing. like, just hear the evidence. let a jury listen. um and so yes, he there's really no clear answer to that. but i will say the there the republican
justices have been trying to kill rich glossip for 26 years, and i have no real idea as to why he's just a normal, simple, poor man. and there is no reason for them to continue this sort of i don't know what word to use almost like a vendetta. they want to kill him. they made it clear that they ruled and they almost seem offended that anybody can bring new evidence and we have a lot of new evidence to bear before he is executed and for people who are who are watching and don't know the story. what you need to understand is mr snead. is the murderer, but the prosecutors gave sneed a deal. he would not go to let death row if he said that glossip paid him to do it. and of course need went along with it. and since then, snead has privately expressed remorse to his attorney and who has said when you got to keep quiet about it. you got your deal. um it's really just anybody who wants
