New Orleans’ French Quarter Festival has officially pushed its usual spring date to fall, and reports continue to suggest that more major spring music festivals are on the verge of making the same move.
Some major festivals, including the Hangout Fest that takes place on Alabama’s coastline in May, have yet to announce plans, so the trend is far from settled. But time pressure is ramping up: This is the time of year when the spring season usually comes into focus with lineups and ticket prices. Hangout Fest organizers announced in December that they’d provide an update in January.

According to the report from @NOLAnews the 2021 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will take place on the weekends of October 8th and October 15th. It will still take place at the Fair Grounds, as it has for decades.
While formal announcement is expected to come from the festival soon, this change will make for a packed month of music in the New Orleans area. Multiple other festivals are slated for October in NOLA, including Buku fest who has an alternative take on their annual festival planned for that month. Of course, the popular Voodoo Music + Arts festival happens on Halloween weekend every year. There is also the French Quarter Festival, meaning every weekend in October will have plenty to do in the Big Easy.
