Arctic Canadian Diamond Company, the new owner of the Ekati diamond mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories, has appointed Wally Schumann (pictured) as a senior adviser on aboriginal and Northern affairs to the board and management.
Schumann is the former Northwest Territories minister of infrastructure and industry, as well as of tourism and investment.
“My appointment strengthens Arctic’s commitments to the Northern communities and helps deliver positive economic results for all parties involved,” Schumann said in a statement.
As previously announced, Rory Moore is serving as the mine’s interim president, while the company searches for a new CEO. He previously served as vice president of exploration for Arctic’s forerunner, Dominion Diamond Mines.
