FAMILY reasons have forced Stan Packer to step down as head coach of Somerville Eagles while Rosebud is expected to announce Tommy McShane as its new head coach this week.
Packer will remain with the Eagles as director of coaching and will serve on the committee.
The hunt is now on for his replacement.
“We are interviewing for both the senior men’s and senior women’s roles and should have an announcement in coming weeks,” president Luke Mulder said.
It’s believed that discussions have taken place with former coach Scott Morrison and former club leading scorer Mark Pagliarulo now with Rosebud.

Fatherly inspiration continues in Australian football with at least 17 father-son – and father-daughter – combinations set to feature in this season’s A-League and Westfield W-League competitions.
Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson’s connections trace right back to 1977, when the National Soccer League kicked off and dad Alex lined up for Sydney Olympic before joining Parramatta Eagles, playing 83 games in five seasons, including a return to Scotland in between.
In total, 50 such combinations have taken the field and at least 17 (14 male and three female) whose dads played NSL and even A-League are set to feature this season.
That number will almost certainly expand with famous names such as Costanzo, Cassio, Markovski and Kim to reappear in the top tier of Australian football.

2019-2020 A-League champions Sydney FC has signed a major partnership agreement with property services provider the Glad Group.
As part of the sponsorship, Glad Group will be on the shirt sleeve of the Sky Blues’ A-League jerseys throughout season 2020-21, which kicks off for Sydney FC on Saturday 2 January at WIN Stadium in Wollongong against Wellington Phoenix. The Sydney FC W-League match kicks off tomorrow, 30 December at Bankwest Stadium.
Glad Group will also become Sydney FC’s technical partner for the up-coming season meaning their logo will embellish all of the club’s A-League and W-League coaching and performance staff’s match day kit.

Bunnings has signed a partnership with the A-League and Westfield W-League for the upcoming season, the first time the retailer has partnered with football (soccer).
The partnership will see the launch of the ‘Bunnings Ladder’ and the ‘Bunnings Team of the Week’, identifying the over leaders per competition and best performing team in every round of the A-League and Westfield W-League.

In consultation with the NSW government, a decision has been made to move the A-League and Westfield W-League games scheduled for Sunday 27 December back by three days whilst the modified COVID-19 restrictions are in place in Sydney over the Christmas period.
The A-League 2020/21 season will now open on Monday 28 December between Western United FC and Adelaide United at GMHBA Stadium and the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season on Tuesday 29 December between Brisbane Roar FC and Melbourne City FC at Dolphin Stadium (a double-header with the men’s team).
The Westfield W-League/A-League double-header between Western Sydney FC & Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers FC & Macarthur FC will be moved to Wednesday 30 December at Bankwest Stadium.

Nigel Boogaard has penned a new one-year deal and the Newcastle Jets captain is ready to lead his hometown team through ‘difficult times’.
The 34-year-old has played 104 A-League matches in Jets colours since returning home to the Hunter in 2015 after stints with the Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.
Boogaard has experienced a rollercoaster six-season Jets career, going from the ignominy of a wooden spoon in 2016/17 to leading out the Jets in the A-League 2018 Grand Final.
