Ruffling the Feathers - Daily Times

Daily Times July 18, 2021 Just as Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed to New Delhi how Pakistan had “been waiting for a long time to coexist as civilised neighbour,” the notorious RSS snapped back with a jeer directed at the kaptaan himself. It would have been one thing to gnarl at being called an impediment to peace. After all, such an accusation is a slap in the face of hyper-patriotism self-proclaimed by the RSS leaders. No questions asked. But sending the entire administration up the river for harbouring “poison” since 1947 is an abominably dirty trick. So much for taking pride in glasnost and an internal churning to break new ground with the Indian Muslims.

Strategy of Stage Management - Daily Times

Daily Times July 5, 2021 States, at times, take actions that neither have rationale nor can be explained or justified. But, there is always a purpose behind it. India is no different. For it does not miss an opportunity to plan, execute and exploit gains from its stage-managed incidents to malign Pakistan for its self-designed specific objectives. Be it the attack on the Indian Parliament in 2001, soon after 9/11 incidents in the US, or the tragedy of Samjotha Express to sabotage the peace process, India seems to have mastered the art of stage-managing the incidents to divert the attention from domestic issues. As expected, the blame is always put on Pakistan without any investigation or evidence. Aware of its growing international stature, India knows that whatever it projects would be accepted, particularly against Pakistan and in the garb of terrorism and extremism. Thus, it would be able to attract the attention of the international community.

Maoists want talks to free jawan held hostage | India News

RAIPUR: Missing CoBRA commando Rakeshwar Singh Manhas’s fate is still uncertain even as Bastar activists spoke up for his release on Tuesday and Maoists, who claim to have him in captivity, asked that mediators be named for negotiations. CPI(Maoist) Dandakaranya special zonal committee spokesman Vikalp issued a statement on Tuesday to say that Manhas was “captured” during the April 3 encounter in Tekulguda and that he would “remain safe in their custody as a prisoner”. “The government must first announce names of mediators. Then, we will hand him over to police,” the release said. The rebels admitted that five of its cadres, including a woman, were killed in the gunfight. The commando’s wife, Meenu, has appealed to PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to bring him home, just as they brought Wing Commander Abhinandan back from Pakistani captivity.
