2nd Japanese 'Akudama Drive' Anime DVD/BD Release Packaging Arrives

© Piero / TooKyoGames / Akdama Drive Production Committee The fall 2020 anime adaptation of the Akudama Drive property from Too Kyo Games and Studio Pierrot previously revealed its home video release plans. The twelve-episode series is being done as limited editions for both DVD and Blu-ray editions that began on December 25th, 2020. The DVDs are priced at 6,800 yen each while the Blu-ray releases are priced at 7,800 yen each. After revealing the main covers previously for the first three volumes, we now have the packaging design for the second installment in larger form. The series is directed by Tomohiro Taguchi with Yoshifumi Sasahara as the assistant director. Norimitsu Kaiho is handling the scripts while Cindy H. Yamauchi is working on adapting Rui Komatsuzaki’s designs. Studio Pierrot is handling the animation production.

Kino's Journey - The Beautiful World. Were there any experiences from those series that helped you when it came time to put together Akudama Drive? I've actually been involved with director Taguchi since before Persona. I've been with him for around ten years. I heard from my mentor that there was an active unit director in the same generation as me, so I met him. I think that was the first time. After that, there were many cases where I worked as a unit director on things that Taguchi had storyboarded, some of them by sheer coincidence. Maybe we grew accustomed to each other, but the visuals Taguchi envisioned wouldn't differ too much from the final look when we worked together. I think that's one of the reasons why I ended up working on his storyboards.

A bit later than other shows, Funimation has now brought out their newest clip from the show where a rag-tag group of criminals, or Akudama, must work together (but not by choice)!
