The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday urged the Bombay High Court to not grant to jailed human rights activist Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoists link case.
Navlakha’s counsel said that the NIA’s apprehension was unfounded adding that as per the NHRC data, only 1,874 inmates above the age of 50 were lodged as undertrials in Maharashtra and that just about 20 per cent of such inmates were likely to be above the age of 70.
"Is this true? Wodehouse is considered as a security threat? This is really comical. Wodehouse was a source of inspiration for Marathi writer and humourist P L Deshpande," Justice Shukre said.
