Whitehorse Daily Star: Child safe after being separated from family

Whitehorse RCMP have released information about the rescue of a missing child on April 4. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on that date, police said Tuesday, they were contacted to assist in locating the missing seven-year-old child who had been separated from their family while running dog sled teams at Fish Lake. Police did not provide the youngster’s gender. Weather conditions were poor, with blowing snow and below-freezing temperatures. Police immediately activated Yukon Search and Rescue (YSAR) personnel, contracted helicopter support, and deployed snowmobiles for the search. “The pilot flying the helicopter observed the child and was able to lead the RCMP via helicopter to the location,” police said
